Answers to your questions

Why choose sodium butyrate instead of calcium butyrate?

The choice of sodium butyrate is based on two key reasons that combine performance and efficiency:

- Better cellular bioavailability
Sodium butyrate contains a single molecule of butyric acid, unlike calcium butyrate, which has two. While this may seem to offer a higher butyric acid intake, the molecular weight of calcium is also higher, limiting its ability to penetrate cells quickly. In contrast, the lighter structure of sodium butyrate facilitates its absorption and assimilation at the cellular level, ensuring optimal efficacy.

- Better solubility for faster action
Sodium butyrate is three times more soluble than calcium butyrate. This characteristic allows butyric acid to be released more quickly into the body, optimizing its beneficial effects on digestive function and gut health. This quick release also improves the product's effectiveness in situations that require an immediate response, such as periods of nutritional stress or dietary changes.

When you choose sodium butyrate, you're selecting a highly bioavailable, fast-acting solution that meets the needs for fast, lasting results. Thanks to its properties, Butylin 54 is a strategic choice for the improvement of animal performance and gut health.

Can sodium butyrate be used in combination with other additives or ingredients, particularly acids?

To ensure that Butylin 54 is as effective as possible, we recommend limiting direct contact with acid ingredients. Here are our recommendations for use:

1. In feed production:
Start by mixing acid ingredients such as powdered or liquid acids, chlorides (of calcium, choline, methionine, etc.) with the raw materials. Then add sensitive ingredients such as premixes, vitamins and finally Butylin 54. This method protects the fragile ingredients and preserves their efficacy.

2. For premix production:
First, mix the acid ingredients with neutralizing agents such as carbonates or clays. To ensure stability and efficacy, vitamins are then added, followed by Butylin 54.

By following these recommendations, you will ensure the safe and effective use of Butylin 54 and maximize its benefits in your formulations.

What are the advantages of Butylin 54 compared with nano or micro-encapsulated butyrates? And compared with esterified butyrates?

Butylin 54 offers distinct advantages over nano or micro-encapsulated butyrates and esterified butyrates, which are also popular alternatives on the market.

Esterified butyrate products, such as butyrate esters, or microencapsulated butyrates are often used to improve butyric acid stability, reduce odor, and provide controlled release into the intestinal tract. However, these products require the action of enzymes such as lipases to break down the ester or encapsulation and release the active butyric acid. This enzymatic process results in a delay before the beneficial effects are fully observed, limiting their immediate action of the activation digestion.

In comparison, Butylin 54, thanks to its innovative formulation, releases butyric acid according to the specific pH of the digestive tract, without the need for lipases. This rapid, targeted release in the upper parts of the digestive system ensures more immediate effects, and not just on the intestinal tract. It improves feed valorization and the animal's overall performance. Unlike esterified butyrates, which depend on enzymatic activation, Butylin 54 optimizes the bioavailability of butyric acid as soon as it passes through the digestive tract, guaranteeing greater efficacy for faster and more complete nutritional benefits.

Butylin 54 is a faster, more effective solution for maximizing the benefits of butyric acid in the upper parts of digestive tract, with a greater impact on feed efficiency and animal health.

Can Butylin 54 be added to the feed without increasing the cost of the formula?

Yes, it is perfectly possible to include Butylin 54 in the feed without additional formulation costs. We have developed two matrix for Butylin 54 specifically for broilers and layers, which allows the product to be optimally incorporated into feed formulations. This matrix considers several key parameters, such as the metabolizable energy value, protein value and buffering capacity of Butylin 54, to ensure a complete and balanced feed solution.

One of the main advantages of this matrix is that it allows Butylin 54 to be incorporated into the feed while keeping production costs under control. Depending on the choice of formulation and the level of use of this matrix (whether partial or total) the additional costs associated with incorporating Butylin 54 can be limited or even eliminated. This makes it possible to optimize feed formulation while maximizing the nutritional benefits of the product, without having a negative impact on production costs.

By choosing Butylin 54, you not only benefit from an innovative solution to improve feed efficiency and gut health but also from cost-effective integration into your feed formulations. This approach makes Butylin 54 accessible, effective, and economically advantageous without compromising the nutritional quality of the feed.

Does Butylin 54 have a buffer effect?

Yes, Butylin 54 has a buffering capacity estimated at 6,000 meq per tonne. This buffering capacity is due to the sodium salts used to protect the butyric acid, thus reducing its volatility and odor.

It is important to note that, in certain cases, particularly when formulating feed with a high buffering capacity, it may be necessary to reduce or eliminate the addition of sodium bicarbonate. This adjustment optimizes the beneficial effects of Butylin 54 and avoids excessive alkalinization of the intestinal environment, which could interfere with the efficacy of the other ingredients.

Can Butylin 54 be used if there are digestive problems or disorders in the batch?

Butylin 54 can be used in case of digestive disorders during a batch of animals. Whether it's a viral outbreak or a dietary transition that disturbs the intestinal balance, a few weeks of supplementation with Butylin 54 will help restore a healthy microbiota and stabilize digestive function. The duration of supplementation varies from species to species. This approach allows a quicker return to optimal production levels, particularly for egg laying, while supporting the animals' digestive resilience.

Gut health is a key performance factor. Well-developed microvilli and shallow crypts are excellent indicators of a healthy intestinal mucosa. The ratio of villus length to crypt depth should be as high as possible to maximize nutrient absorption and boost local immunity. Butylin 54 acts directly on intestinal health by promoting a good environment for villous development and reducing intestinal inflammation. This action improves the integrity of the intestinal barrier and optimizes nutrient utilization.

Butylin 54 is, therefore, a strategic solution for maintaining and restoring gut health while supporting animal productivity and performance.
