Reduction
Reduction of non-delivery cases

  • Better growth and skeletal development in young animals
  • Reduce hypocalcemia after calving

Goals

Pidolin Pca supports calcium and phosphorus metabolism in dairy cows after parturition. It helps to prevent metabolic disorders linked to hypocalcemia and enhances start of lactation.

Answers to your questions

Is Pidolin PCa a source of calcium ?

No, Pidolin PCa is not a direct source of calcium. It is a specific solution designed to stimulate and enhance the absorption of calcium already present in the feed. It facilitates its assimilation from conventional sources such as calcium carbonate and other elements present in the feed.

Pidolin PCa improves calcium and phosphorus metabolism, reducing the risk of deficiency. It plays a key role in maintaining bone health, muscle development and overall body function in animals (e.g. eggshell formation in breeding and laying hens).

It is important to select high-quality calcium sources to maximize the effects of Pidolin PCa. By acting as an assimilation activator, it increases the bioavailability of calcium. As a result, animals will benefit from a better-utilized intake, promoting growth, bone strength, and production performance.

What are the differences between Pidolin PCa and vitamin D-based products to stimulate calcium metabolism?

Multiple and complementary actions for optimal calcium absorption:

Vitamin D, and in particular its active derivatives such as calcitriol, play a key role in the regulation of blood calcium levels. Calcitriol acts as a hormonal signal to stimulate the production of calcium-binding protein (CBP), which is essential for active calcium transport and thus calcium absorption. However, if cells lack the necessary amino acids, particularly arginine, they cannot produce these proteins efficiently, limiting the effectiveness of vitamin D.

Pidolin PCa acts as a precursor of arginine thanks to its pidolic acid content. By including it in the feed, you provide the cells with the material they need to respond to the hormonal signal from calcitriol.

The mechanisms of action of Pidolin PCa and vitamin D are therefore different but perfectly complementary. When used together, they maximize calcium absorption and efficiency, providing a complete nutritional solution for improving bone health, muscle development and performance in livestock.

Does increasing calcium carbonate in the diet reduce hypocalcaemia or improve calcium absorption?

No, increasing the amount of calcium carbonate in the diet is not an effective solution for preventing hypocalcemia, and may even be counterproductive. This is because calcium carbonate has a buffering effect, which leads to an increase in digestive pH. Calcium must dissociate from its source in an acid environment to be properly absorbed. If the pH is too high, this dissociation is limited, slowing down the body's absorption of calcium.

In many cases, hypocalcemia is not due to a lack of calcium in the diet, but to a malfunction in the absorption mechanism. Excessive increase in calcium carbonate does not solve this problem and may interfere with the efficiency of calcium assimilation.

To ensure optimal absorption, it is preferable to opt for solutions that stimulate phosphorus and calcium metabolism, such as Pidolin PCa. It improves the bioavailability of calcium already present in the feed. This approach helps to maintain blood calcium balance and prevent deficiencies, while promoting bone health and animal welfare.

Is Pidolin PCa toxic in case of overdose ?

No, the lethal dose 50 (LD50) of Pidolin PCa, which is 10 g/kg live weight, is well above the doses recommended by Dietaxion for safe and effective use. The recommended dosages are perfectly suited to the physiology of the animals.

Pidolin PCa is manufactured according to strict quality standards and is GMP+ certified. We pay particular attention to the safety and quality of our product to ensure its efficacy and safe use in animal nutrition.

Is it possible to incorporate Pidolin PCa in all kinds of galenic forms, such as pellets, boluses, liquids or gels?

Pidolin PCa can be easily incorporated into all solid products, such as granules or boluses, without any risk of degradation. It is highly resistant to heat during the manufacturing process. There are therefore no limitations or counter-indications to its use in these galenic forms.

However, more care must be taken when using it in liquid solutions. Although Pidolin PCa is water dispersible, it is not completely soluble. It is therefore important to mix the solution regularly before each use to ensure uniform distribution of the product and to avoid any separation or agglomeration.

As a result, Pidolin PCa is compatible with a wide range of galenic forms, offering great flexibility of use while ensuring optimal efficacy when formulated and handled correctly.

Does Pidolin PCa have an immediate effect and how long does the effect last?

Studies carried out by Dietaxion have clearly shown that Pidolin PCa has an immediate effect on calcaemia in animals, helping to improve their performance and productivity. This rapid action is particularly beneficial for optimizing calcium intake management, especially during critical periods when requirements are increased, such as during lactation or growth.

However, it is important to understand that animals have no storage mechanisms for the active molecule of Pidolin PCa. As a result, the product does not last long in the body and its efficacy is therefore temporary. To maintain an optimal effect, regular supplementation is required, depending on the animal's nutritional requirements and performance objectives.

Although Pidolin PCa acts quickly and effectively, its duration of action depends on its continued use as part of an appropriate nutritional program.
