Answers to your questions

Is Pidolin PCa a source of calcium?

No, Pidolin PCa is not a direct source of calcium. This is a specialized solution designed to stimulate and reinforce the absorption of calcium already present in the diet. It facilitates assimilation from conventional sources such as calcium carbonate, other elements present in animal feed.

Pidolin PCa improves phosphocalcic metabolism, reducing the risk of deficiency. It plays a key role in maintaining bone health, muscle development and overall body function in farm animals (e.g. shell formation in breeding and laying hens).

It is important to choose high-quality calcium sources to maximize the effects of Pidolin PCa. By acting as an assimilation activator, it improves calcium bioavailability. As a result, animals benefit from a better-utilized intake, favoring growth, bone strength and production performance.

What's the difference between Pidolin PCa and vitamin D-based products to stimulate calcium metabolism?

Different, complementary actions for optimal calcium absorption:

Vitamin D, and in particular its active derivatives such as calcitriol, plays a key role in regulating blood calcium levels. Calcitriol acts as a hormonal signal, stimulating the production of Calcium Binding Protein (CBP), essential for active calcium transport and thus calcium absorption. However, if cells lack the necessary amino acids, notably arginine, they cannot efficiently produce these proteins, thus limiting the effectiveness of vitamin D.

Thanks to its pidolic acid content, Pidolin PCa acts as a precursor to arginine. By incorporating it into rations, you provide cells with the material they need to respond to the calcitriol hormonal signal.

The mechanisms of action of Pidolin PCa and vitamin D are therefore distinct but perfectly complementary. Their combined use maximizes calcium absorption and efficiency, offering a complete nutritional solution to improve bone health, muscle development and performance in livestock.

Does increasing calcium carbonate in the ration reduce hypocalcemia or improve calcium absorption?

No, increasing the amount of calcium carbonate in the ration is not an effective solution for preventing hypocalcemia, and may even be counterproductive. This is because calcium carbonate has a buffering effect, which leads to an increase in digestive pH. To be properly absorbed, calcium must dissociate from its source in an acidic environment. When the pH is too high, this dissociation is limited, slowing down the body's absorption of calcium.

In most cases, hypocalcemia is not due to a lack of calcium in the ration, but to a malfunction in the absorption mechanism. Excessive increases in calcium carbonate do not solve this problem, and may impair the efficiency of calcium assimilation.

To ensure optimum absorption, it is preferable to opt for solutions that stimulate phosphocalcic metabolism, such as Pidolin PCa, to improve the bioavailability of calcium already present in the feed. This approach helps maintain calcium balance and prevent deficiencies, while promoting bone health and the well-being of livestock.

Does Pidolin PCa present a risk of toxicity in the event of overdose?

No, Pidolin PCa's lethal dose 50 (LD50) of 10 g/kg bodyweight is well above Dietaxion's recommended dosages for safe and effective use. In fact, the quantities used in rations are well below this value and perfectly adapted to the physiology of the animals.

Pidolin PCa is manufactured to rigorous quality standards and is GMP+ certified. We pay particular attention to the safety and quality of our product, ensuring its effectiveness and safe use in animal feed.

Can Pidolin PCa be incorporated into all galenic forms, such as granules, boluses, liquids or gels?

Pidolin PCa can be easily incorporated into all solid products, such as granules or boluses, without any risk of degradation, as it is highly resistant to heat during the manufacturing process. There are therefore no restrictions or contraindications to its use in these dosage forms.

However, its use in liquid solutions requires further attention. Although Pidolin PCa is water-dispersible, it is not entirely soluble. It is therefore important to mix the solution regularly before each use to ensure even distribution of the product and avoid any separation or agglomeration.

As a result, Pidolin PCa is compatible with a variety of galenic forms, offering great flexibility of use, while ensuring optimum efficacy when properly formulated and handled.

Does Pidolin PCa have an immediate effect and how long does it last?

Studies carried out by Dietaxion have shown that Pidolin PCa has an immediate effect on calcemia in animals, helping to improve performance and productivity. This rapid action is particularly beneficial for optimizing calcium intake management, especially in critical periods of increased need, such as during lactation or growth.

However, it is essential to understand that the animal has no storage mechanisms for the active Pidolin PCa molecule. As a result, the product does not last long in the body, and its effectiveness is temporary. To maintain an optimal effect, regular administration is necessary, depending on the animal's nutritional requirements and performance objectives.

So, although Pidolin PCa acts quickly and effectively, its duration of action depends on its continued use as part of an appropriate nutritional program.
